Serenity is simply a psychological state that occurs when the mind is not agitated. My Mom use to say to me, “You can’t calm the storm, so stop trying. What you can do is calm yourself. The storm will pass.” So I learned to sit and be still and observe the storm. It wasn’t that I found freedom from the storm, but peace amidst the storm. This is the idea that the sculpture was created from. To be at peace, to know that this too will pass and that sometimes we just need to be still.
