MOONLIGHT SONATA/Tabletop

Table Top

BRONZE  20” x 12.5” x 8.75” |  Edition of 25

When I was a child I played the piano. The Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-Sharp minor, Op.27, No. 2, popularly known as Ludwig Van Beethoven’s “The Moonlight Sonata” it was one of my favorites! I think the reason was that whenever I played it I could feel the compelling changes throughout the entire piece. The emotive quality of the changes are romantic and turbulent. The first movement so quiet and sensuous, it comes upon you like poem you were not expecting. The second movement a bit faster sounding like passion, feeling like falling in love, the excitement is lusty and potent. It arouses you , makes your flesh feel like it is being born again. It feels like an enchanted  love story. The last movement is unrestrained its wildness astounding. The entire composition though it lacks lyrics reads like an unbridled love affair. The two lovers are throwing their abandon to the wind. The man almost leaping sends the woman into motion, transporting her into the heavens. It is a rhapsody of pleasure and joy!
