These Terms of Service govern the use of gessococteau.com and purchases made directly from Gesso Cocteau. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to these terms and to the policies linked below. If you do not agree, do not use the site or complete a purchase.

1. Store and contact

This website is operated by Gesso Cocteau through Shopify. Questions may be sent to gessococteau@gmail.com or 760-702-5049.

2. Eligibility and lawful use

You must be legally able to enter into a purchase agreement in your jurisdiction. You may not use the site, its products, or its services for an unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized purpose, interfere with the operation or security of the site, or transmit malicious code.

3. Product information and availability

We work to present titles, descriptions, dimensions, materials, edition information, colors, photographs, prices, and availability accurately. Bronze patina, texture, finish, and handmade characteristics may vary naturally, and screens may display color differently. Limited editions, foundry schedules, and one-of-a-kind or custom work may require confirmation. We may correct an error, limit quantities, decline an order, or cancel and refund an unavailable or incorrectly listed item.

4. Prices, payment, and taxes

Prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout and may change without notice before an order is placed. Applicable taxes, shipping, crating, handling, customs, and other disclosed charges are added at checkout or in a written sculpture or commission agreement. Payment must be authorized before fulfillment begins.

5. ePubs and digital products

An ePub purchase provides a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to read the purchased file. It does not transfer copyright or permit resale, redistribution, public posting, commercial reproduction, file sharing, alteration for resale, or removal of rights information. Delivery and refund terms are stated in the Shipping Policy and Return and Refund Policy.

6. Printed books

Printed books are fulfilled according to the availability and edition shown on the product page. A signed edition and an ePub are separate products. Personalized inscriptions and made-to-order books may have different cancellation and return terms.

7. Bronze sculpture

Bronze purchases may require confirmation of edition availability, foundry status, preparation time, crating, freight, insurance, destination access, delivery, rigging, and installation. The purchaser must provide accurate site and access information. Title and risk of loss transfer as provided by applicable law and the agreed carrier or written sales agreement. Natural patina, texture, and handmade variation are not defects.

8. Custom and commissioned work

A custom or commissioned work requires a separate written agreement describing scope, dimensions, materials, edition status, approvals, payment schedule, changes, delivery, installation, and ownership of designs and intellectual property. If that agreement conflicts with these general terms, the signed commission agreement controls for that project.

9. Shipping, returns, and refunds

The current Shipping Policy and Return and Refund Policy are incorporated into these terms. Product-specific or written commission terms control when they provide more specific requirements.

10. Intellectual property

The site and its contents—including sculpture designs, photographs, drawings, films, poetry, fiction, text, graphics, logos, product names, and other creative material—are owned by or licensed to Gesso Cocteau and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. No purchase grants the right to reproduce, cast, fabricate, publish, distribute, adapt, train a commercial model on, or commercially exploit the work unless a separate written license expressly permits it.

11. Reviews, submissions, and communications

If you submit a review, question, photograph, or other material, you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it is truthful and lawful. You grant Gesso Cocteau a nonexclusive right to display and use that submission in connection with the store and its promotion, subject to applicable privacy law. We may remove unlawful, abusive, deceptive, infringing, or irrelevant material.

12. Third-party services and links

The site may link to Shopify, payment providers, carriers, Amazon, Apple Books, galleries, social platforms, and other third parties. Their services and policies are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for a third party’s independent content, availability, or practices.

13. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its information are provided without warranties beyond those expressly stated. Gesso Cocteau is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of the site or a delayed third-party service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Gesso Cocteau against claims and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the site, violation of these terms, infringement of another person’s rights, or unauthorized reproduction or distribution of protected work.

15. Severability and waiver

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Gesso Cocteau’s principal place of business in California, without limiting mandatory consumer protections or rights that apply in the purchaser’s jurisdiction.

17. Changes

We may update these terms by posting a revised version with a new “Last updated” date. The version in effect when an order is placed governs that order unless a written agreement states otherwise.

The Raven Knew excels by taking classic Gothic tropes—a brooding estate, dopplegängers, hidden rooms, and ancient secrets—and elevating them with mature emotional intelligence. It concludes not with a dramatic tragedy, but with a quiet, beautiful affirmation of life, choice, and love.

The poems are beautiful , strong and meaningful. I found myself within the timeless web cast by each poem. The book is wonderful, beautifully printed with some stunning artwork. A wonderful touch were the small surprises that came in the package with the book.

A compelling read. I like the way it's presented on black with white lettering, easy to read. I like the relics and symbols used to go along with the story and the video that I saw on this book. Makes me interested in looking at maybe buying one of the shoes or the small sculptures that's used in the video. I owned another sculpture of gessococteau, so I was drawn to the site to see what else, and I was amazed at the talent of Gesso Cocteau. I thought she was a sculptor and what a pleasant surprise to see she also writes. 599. It was worth a chance to see. It was worth every dollar. I hope there's another one coming right behind this one, because if there is, count me in.

The Raven Knew: The Living Castle sparked my imagination and catapulted me into a Gothic Wonderland. The variety of characters, including the castle, provide a richness to the readers’ experience that is riveting and fascinating. I could feel the characters’ love, the raven’s movements, and the breath of the castle… which all sent shivers down my spine. The Raven Knew: The Living Castle is a visceral and ethereal must-read!
